Welcome Letter

Dear Room 8 Families:

Welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful summer. Let me start off by saying that I love teaching at Carlton Oaks! I am looking forward to working with you and your children.

About Me: My name is Courtney Bueno. This is my  fifteenth year teaching in the Santee School District and my twelfth year teaching first grade at Carlton Oaks. I graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies. I also have a California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and a Master's Degree in Teacher Education from the University of Phoenix. I am originally from Atascadero, California. I am married and I live in Pacific Beach. I love to read, go to the bay and concerts, and spend time with family and friends. I have a son, Jake, who turned eight this summer, and is second grade. My daughter, Cadence, is five and she just started Kindergarten here at Oaks.  My son Cruz is two.  They love to visit the classroom so you will see them often!

Behavior: I emphasize making good choices in the classroom and on the playground. I believe in praise and encouragement and I have a high regard for your child's self-esteem. We are currently using a fun program called Class Dojo for our behavior management system. You will receive an email with information on how to sign up to view your child's progress. I also have a reward system for excellent individual, group, and whole class behavior.

Again, I am looking forward to a great year with your children! Please feel free to contact me to discuss any questions or concerns you may have. You may reach me at school at 956-4528 or by email at [email protected]. I will check my voice mail and email on a daily basis and I will return messages at the end of the day.

Sincerely,

Courtney Bueno
