Welcome Letter

Dear Room 8 Families:

Welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful summer. Let me start off by saying that I love teaching at Carlton Oaks! I am looking forward to working with you and your children.

About Me:

My name is Courtney Bueno. This is my twelfth year teaching in the Santee School District and my ninth year teaching first grade at Carlton Oaks. I graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies. I also have a California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and a Master's Degree in Teacher Education from the University of Phoenix. I am originally from Atascadero, California. I am married and I live in Pacific Beach. I love to read, go to the bay and concerts, and spend time with family and friends. I have a son, Jake, who turned five this summer and my daughter Cadence turned two! The kids love to come visit the classroom, so you will see them often. :)

Behavior:

I emphasize making good choices in the classroom and on the playground. I believe in praise and encouragement and I have a high regard for your child's self-esteem. We are currently using a fun program called Class Dojo for our behavior management system. You will receive an email with information on how to sign up to view your child's progress. I also have a reward system for excellent individual, group, and whole class behavior.

Again, I am looking forward to a great year with your children! Please feel free to contact me to discuss any questions or concerns you may have. You may reach me at school at 956-4528 or by email at courtney.bueno@santeesd.net. I will check my voice mail and email on a daily basis and I will return messages at the end of the day.

Sincerely,

Courtney Bueno
