About Me
I have had ties to Santee my entire life. I attended Cajon Park School kindergarten through eighth grade and even had my dad as a teacher in sixth grade. As a child, my family (including my older brother and sister) was heavily involved in running Santee Community Theatre.
I attended Granite Hills High School for their superior theatre program, and that is where I met my wife Alisa, who is also a Carlton Oaks teacher. I spent my college years at the University of San Diego where I also earned my teaching credential. Later, I earned my Master's of Science degree in Literacy at Walden University.
I have been teaching at Carlton Oaks my entire career of twenty-seven years: one year in fourth, eleven years in fifth, and fifteen years in eighth. In that time, I have developed a true passion for reading, and I credit it to Rowling's Harry Potter series. This passion has driven me in creating motivating curriculum for my students. In the classroom, I pride myself on being a flexible and creative teacher who recognizes the need for student choice in learning.
Our family includes daughter Bryn and son Jaden. In addition to family time, I enjoy spending some time on stage, especially in musicals.
